
Hrynko Tabbed BIG EAST Player of the Week

CHICAGO - DePaul junior guard Brittany Hrynko was named the BIG EAST Conference women's basketball Player of the Week by the league office on Monday. Hrynko led the Blue Demons to a 2-0 week with wins over Butler and Chicago State.
The Philadelphia native began the week with a 28-point performance in DePaul's first league game against Butler. Hrynko connected on 9-of-11 shots, including 7-of-8 from downtown. Hrynko's shooting percentage from 3-point range of .875 tied for the third-best performance in DePaul single-game history. The junior also added eight rebounds, six assists and four steals in 31 minutes of action.
Hrynko capped her impressive week with 13 points, four assists and three steals against in-state foe Chicago State to lead the Blue Demons to a 53-point victory.
For the week, Hrynko shot 59.1 percent (13-of-22), including 66.7 percent (8-of-12) beyond the three-point arc. She also touted a 3.3 assist-to-turnover ratio and added 4.5 rebounds per contest.
Hrynko is the first Blue Demon to pick up Player of the Week honors this season. Jessica January and Megan Podkowa have both been listed on the Weekly Honor Roll.
Sydney Lamberty of Creighton was named the conference's Freshman of the Week. Alexis Akin-Otiko (Creighton), Aliyyah Handford (St. John's), Blaire Langlois (Butler), Tori Rule (Providence) and Daisha Simmons (Seton Hall) were all named to the Weekly Honor Roll.
