Blue Demons Ranked No. 25 by Soccer America

Soccer America’s Top 25 poll on Tuesday places DePaul in a tie for No. 25 with James Madison.
It is the first time the Blue Demons have garnered a national ranking since August of 2009 when DePaul was ranked No. 20 by Soccer America.
That ranking came on the heels of a 1-0 upset of No. 11 Missouri on the road.
DePaul’s 4-0-0 start is the second-best in program history. The 2001 Blue Demons opened that season 5-0-0.
Likely factoring into the national recognition is DePaul’s 2-1 upset of then-No. 13 Nebraska in Lincoln on Aug. 24 when the Blue Demon defense held the high-powered Cornhusker attack scoreless until the 89th minute.
DePaul just completed a productive weekend that saw coach Erin Chastain’s team top Towson 1-0 in Maryland and defeat Loyola Maryland 4-2 in Baltimore.
The Blue Demons will defend their national ranking on Wednesday in a 4 p.m. match against talented Illinois State (3-1-0) at Wish Field.
