Blue Demons Reach Four Finals Matches at Northwestern Invite

Evanston, Ill. -- The DePaul women's tennis team capped a solid day at the Northwestern Fall Invitation by sending four into finals matches on Sunday afternoon in Evanston.
In the purple singles flight, Yuliya Shupenia defeated Florida International's Yana Koroleva, 6-3, 7-6(2) before knocking off Northwestern's Jillian Rooney, 6-1, 6-2 to advance to the finals.
In the Black flight, Rebeca Mitrea defeated both Callie Frey and Rheeya Doshi, in three sets, to advance to the pool's championship match while two doubles pairs also moved on to Sunday's final matches. Jasmin Kling and Patricia Lancranjan will play for the White doubles flight championship and Shupenia and Mitrea will compete for the grey title.
Meanwhile in Palisades, Calif., at the ITA All-Americans, Patricia Fargas won her opening match in the prequalifying draw over Virginia's Marie Faure, 6-4, 6-4, before falling in the second round.
The weekend's action concludes Sunday afternoon.
