Blue Demons Set to Compete at the ITA Midwest Regionals

CHICAGO-The DePaul women's tennis prepares to compete against 24 other teams from around the region at the ITA Midwest Regional Championship in Ann Arbor, Mich. Oct. 22-27.
The six-day long tournament begins on Thursday, Oct. 22 at 8 a.m. Central time with the qualifying singles rounds. Senior Jarret Fisher and freshman Milica Tesic are the first Blue Demons to compete, as Fisher serves up against Renu Sharma from Eastern Michigan and Tesic, Lorea Gamboa from Chicago State in the qualifying singles rounds.
Qualifying singles continues into Friday before the main draws of singles competition start.
Saturday, Oct. 24 marks the first round of doubles competition and the singles main draw first and second round.
Sunday, Oct. 25 continues with doubles quarter and semifinal rounds and the singles main round draw round of 16.
Doubles competition finishes up on Monday, Oct. 26 while the championship rounds of the singles draw are determined with quarter and semifinal rounds.
Tuesday, Oct. 27 marks the singles main draw championship at 10 a.m.
Winners of the singles and doubles draws receive berths to the ITA National Indoor Championships November 12-15 in Flushing Meadows, N.Y. at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
DePaul enters the tournament after coming off nearly a two-week break after competing in the All-American Championship and Bronco Invitational. The Blue Demons boast an overall 38-23 record following three competitions prior to the regional championship.
Junior Yuliya Shupenia is one of 10 nationally ranked singles players at the event at No. 119 and one of four doubles team ranked with graduate senior Rebeca Mitrea at No. 57.
