Day One Complete at the Roberta Alison Fall Classic

Tuscaloosa Ala.- A round of doubles and two rounds of singles were finished by four members of the DePaul women's tennis team today in day one of the Roberta Alison Fall Classic.
Of the four, Patricia Lancranjan, Rebeca Mitrea and Marina Cozac compete in their respective singles brackets tomorrow for third place.
Today, Lancranjan won against Kelsey Coots from Chattanooga 6-4, 6-1 before falling to Kristina Vozniak from Mississippi State in order to face Carita Moolman from Samford tomorrow. Mitrea won against Catherine Ragon from the University of Alabama at Birmingham 6-2, 6-3, but then dropped her match to Jennifer Brown from Mississippi State 6-0, 7-6. Mitrea faces Jacqui Katz from Tulane next. Cozac defeated Jiayuan Xue from Troy 7-5, 6-1, but lost to Madison Harrison from Mississippi State 6-0, 3-6, 6-1 to face Nina Khmelnitckaia from Kansas next. Yuliya Shupenia lost to Georgiana Patrasc from Mississippi State 7-6, 6-2 and won her next match based off a withdraw.
On the doubles end, the Blue Demons finished 1-1 overall. Shupenia and Lancranjan dropped their match to a tandem from Ole Miss 8-2 and face a pair from Mississippi State next. Cozac and Mitrea won against Alex Corder and Pardis Kianoush from UAB 8-4 and face another duo from Mississippi State tomorrow.
The final round of singles action finishes up first tomorrow beginning at 8 a.m Eastern time. Doubles competition will follow accordingly.
