CHICAGO - DePaul standout Megan Podkowa picked up her second accolade of the day on Monday afternoon when she repeated as the BIG EAST Conference Player of the Week.
Earlier in the morning, Podkowa was named the ESPNw National Player of the Week.
Podkowa capped off a dominant week scoring a career-high 27 points while grabbing 14 rebounds in No. 16/15 DePaul's 77-64 victory last Saturday at No. 12/13 Northwestern.
In that game, the 6-foot, 2-inch senior went 6-of-7 from three-point range.
Earlier in the week, Podkowa finished with 21 points and 11 boards in an 88-79 loss at South Dakota State.
The triumph over Northwestern was DePaul's second over a nationally ranked team. The Blue Demons knocked off then-No. 15/16 Texas A&M 80-66 on Dec. 12 in College Station, Texas behind Podkowa's 20 points and career-high 18 rebounds.
Podkowa has been on quite a roll of late. In her last three games, the multi-talented forward is averaging nearly 23 points and 14.3 rebounds per game. In her last four games, she is 13-of-19 from behind the arc and connecting at a 68 percent clip.
The Blue Demons tangled with North Side rival Loyola on Monday at McGrath-Phillips Arena. After a Christmas break, DePaul takes on rival Marquette in its BIG EAST Conference opener at 7 p.m. on Dec. 29 at McGrath-Phillips Arena.
