DePaul Topples Marquette, 6-1

MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- The DePaul women's tennis team had no trouble with Marquette on Friday afternoon, topping the Golden Eagles, 6-1, in Milwaukee.
For the No. 37 Blue Demons, the win was their fourth in a row and improved their overall record to 17-4.
DePaul took all three doubles matches to start the day up 1-0, beginning with a convincing 8-1 win by Ana Vladutu and Yuliya Shupenia in the No. 2 match over Ali Dawson and Aleeza Kanner. At No. 1 doubles, Patricia Fargas and Jasmin Kling topped Ana Pimienta and Erin Gebes, 8-4, while Rebeca Mitrea and Zaina Sufi defeated Paula Tormos and Diana Tokar by the same score in the No. 3 match.
In singles play, DePaul won 5-of-6 matches to clinch the victory. Shupenia won a 6-2, 6-1 decision over Pimienta in the No. 1 match and Vladutu topped Tokar, 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3 singles. In the No. 4 match, Fargas defeated Dawson, 6-2, 6-0 and Kling beat Tormos, 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 5 slot. Mitrea captured a win at No.6 singles, beating Vanessa Foltinger, 6-2, 6-3.
DePaul will cap the regular season tomorrow at home against Seton Hall. Match time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
