Golf Announces 2015-16 Schedule

CHICAGO ââ'¬" Head coach Betty Kaufmann announced today the 2015-16 schedule for the DePaul golf program. The Blue Demons open the season on Sept. 21 at the Fighting Irish Golf Classic before hosting the John Dallio Memorial at Ruffled Feathers GC on Oct. 3-4.
Kaufmann welcomes back her top five players from last season's team that finished second at the BIG EAST Championship. The Blue Demons are led by Freddy and Bobby Thomas and Jonathan Hewett. Freddy Thomas earned All-BIG EAST honors as a freshman and led the team with a scoring average of 74.52. Hewett posted an average of 75.10 and Bobby Thomas was third on the team at 75.61.
The Blue Demons open the autumn slate with a pair of Midwestern events. The season starts on Sept. 21-22 at the Fighting Irish Golf Classic. DePaul hosts its annual tournament, the John Dallio Memorial, at its home course of Ruffled Feathers GC in Lemont on Oct. 3-4. The annual event is named after for DePaul golfer John Dallio who lost his courageous battle with glioblastoma, a deadly brain tumor on Oct. 6, 2003. A member of the Blue Demons from 1997-2001, Dallio earned a degree from DePaul in Finance and worked in the Blue Demon athletic department for two years.
The Blue Demons conclude October and their fall schedule at the David Toms Intercollegiate in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Oct. 10-11. The fall slate concludes at the Georgetown Intercollegiate on Oct. 19-20 before the team breaks until January.
DePaul will play seven events in six different states in the spring beginning in Beaumont Calif., at the Winter Intercollegiate, Jan. 25-26.
The month of February has the Blue Demons at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate, Feb. 22-23 in Hilton Head, S.C. before heading to Arizona for the Loyola Intercollegiate at the Palm Valley Golf Club, Feb. 28-March 1.
DePaul travels to Florida at the end of March for the Slomin Autism Championship in Lake Worth, Fla. on March 25-27.
DePaul tunes up for the BIG EAST Championship with tournaments in Washington and Iowa in the month of April. The Blue Demons travel to University Place, Wash., for the Redhawk on April 4-5 followed by the Hawkeye-Great River Entertainment Invitational in Iowa City on April 16-17.
The 2016 BIG EAST Championship returns to Callawassie Island Club in Okatie, S.C., from May 1-3.
