Women's Tennis Announces 2015-16 Schedule

2015-16 Schedule
CHICAGO- The DePaul University women's tennis team has released its schedule for the 2015-16 season. The Blue Demons kick of their season next weekend in Evanston, Ill. for the Northwestern Invitational Sept. 25-27.
This year, women's head coach Mark Ardizzone welcomes two freshmen, Marina Cozac and Milica Tesic as well as graduate assistant coach, Marketa Placha from Charleston Southern University. Six players return from the history-making 2014-15 campaign where the Blue Demons reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.
The Northwestern Invitational is the first of six tournaments for the team's fall slate. Oct. 6-10, Yuliya Shupenia and Rebeca Mitrea head to the All-American Championships in Los Angeles to compete among the nation's elite. No. 119 ranked Shupenia will compete in the singles qualifying bracket, while Shupenia and Mitrea compete in the qualifying doubles bracket as the No. 57 ranked duo in the country.
DePaul travels to Michigan for the Bronco Invitational in Kalamazoo Oct. 9-11 and the ITA Midwest Regional in Ann Arbor Oct. 22-27.
Following competition in Michigan, the Blue Demons team travel south to Tuscaloosa, Ala. Oct. 30-Nov. 1 for the Roberta Allison Tournament before finishing the fall slate in Evanston at the Northwestern Fall Event Nov. 6-8.
DePaul begins its spring schedule Jan. 15-17 at Northwestern Hidden Duels in Evanston.
Dual matches begin the following weekend at the ITA Kick Off Tournament at Georgia Tech in Atlanta. The Blue Demons take on LSU Saturday, Jan. 23 and Georgia Tech or William & Mary Sunday, Jan. 24.
The Blue Demons play their first match at home against Michigan State Saturday, Jan. 30 and follow with Houston Sunday, Jan. 31. Michigan State and Houston are two of six matches DePaul hosts over the course of the spring season.
On Saturday, Feb. 20, DePaul takes on its first BIG EAST opponent, Georgetown, at home. The only other BIG EAST team DePaul plays at home is Marquette on Friday, Apr. 22 at 6 p.m. The Blue Demons take on Butler (Apr. 3), Xavier (Apr. 9), Providence (Apr. 15) and Seton Hall at Providence (Apr. 16).
The BIG EAST Championship takes place Apr. 29-May 1.
For home matches, the men's and women's teams compete at Lakeshore Sport and Fitness. The complex boasts eight indoor tennis courts situated right in Lincoln Park.
The 2015-16 seasons marks the 20th for Ardizzone. Since his arrival, Ardizzone has established himself as the winningest coach in program history. Ardizzone has guided the Blue Demons to three NCCA appearances, including a second round appearance last season.
