
Golf Takes Sixth Place at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic

Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic Final Results
NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- The DePaul golf team finished the Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic in sixth place. Jonathan Hewett led the Blue Demons and tied for 19th place in the individual standings.
Playing Notre Dame's par-71 Warren Golf Course, Hewett fired a final round of 73 while the junior also recorded rounds of 69 -- which was the lowest round shot by a Blue Demon during the tournament -- and 74 to finish with 216 (+3) for the tournament.
Hewett tied for 19th place with Ball State's James Blackwell and Wofford College's Grant Waggoner.
Bobby Thomas made the biggest jump in the individual standings by shooting a par-71 in the final round. Bobby Thomas moved from tie for 32nd (after two rounds) into a tie with his twin brother, Freddy Thomas and Wofford College's Jeremy Grab for 26th place with a score of 218 (+5).
Adrian Halimi (226) tied for 47th and James Lelliott (228) tied for 53rd.
Jonathan Goldstein (238), who was playing as an individual, finished in 68th.
Notre Dame and St. Mary's shared the team title with a combined score of 850. Wofford College (859) was third while Utah State (861) and Loyola (Md.) rounded out the top five.
DePaul returns to the course when it hosts the John Dallio Memorial Classic, Oct. 3-4 at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club.
