Golf Announces Additions to 2025-26 Roster

Blue Demons bring in talented group of three transfers and three freshmen
CHICAGO – DePaul golf has announced a talented recruiting class, set to join the Blue Demons for the 2025-26 season. The talented class is made up of three transfers and three freshmen - Leif Breede, North Chery, Jack Mann, Sam Mortell, Matthew Rastogi and Austin Scott.
Leif Breede trains at Jason Floyd Golf Academy in Spain but is a native of Hamburg, Germany. He has been ranked in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) with six-top 10 finishes in world events. Breede first received his world amateur ranking after winning the Triple A Series World Final in 2024.
North Chery will join DePaul as a freshman in the fall of 2025. A native of East Haven, Conn., Chery competed in the 2024 USGA Junior Amateur Competition and was the 2024 Connecticut Amateur runner-up. He has reached an AJGA ranking of 228 and is a four-time Connecticut FAA Boys individual state champion.
Jack Mann arrived on campus ahead of the winter quarter but will begin his competitive action in the fall of 2025. Mann is a native of Avoch, Scotland where he was captain of the Junior Tour Scotland Team in 2023-24. He is the second member of DePaul's recruiting class with a WAGR ranking, earning his amateur ranking after a win at the Junior Tour Scotland Fortrose & Rosemarkie. He trains at the Paul Lawrie Performance Academy.
The first of DePaul's transfers is Sam Mortell, a Chicago native returning home. Mortell played three seasons at Miami (Ohio), including this season where he had an average of 74.0 through 12 rounds played. He earned a sixth-place finish at the Indy at Forest Hills Tournament and was 25th at the Bill Crabtree Invitational. Mortell attended Whitney Young High School where he was all-conference as a junior and senior. He ranked top-150 for his recruiting class in 2021 on Junior Golf Scoreboard.
Matthew Rastogi comes to DePaul after his freshman season at Eastern Michigan where he played 11 rounds for the Eagles. Rastogi is a native of Toronto, Ontario where he placed third at the AJGA Memorial Junior event. He also took third place in the U17 Ontario Junior Boys Tournament while also competing at the Ontario U17 and U19 Championships.
Austin Scott joins the Blue Demons following four years at Clemson. Scott redshirted as a true freshman and was injured this year during the 2024-25 season. The Daniel Island, S.C. native is expected to have two remaining years of eligibility while pursuing his MBA at DePaul. As a redshirt sophomore in 2023-24 he had a 75.0 scoring average. Scott was an accomplished junior golfer earning two All-State selections and leading Bishop England High School to a pair of State 3A Championships. Additionally, Scott has a 2019 South Carolina Junior Championship title on his resume.
