Men's Golf Starts Spring Season in California

CHICAGO- The DePaul men's golf team starts the spring portion of its 2015-16 schedule on Jan. 25-26 at the Winter Intercollegiate in Beaumont, Calif. The event is hosted by UC Riverside and takes place at the Oak Valley Golf Club.
Joining DePaul and UC Riverside at the three-round, two-day tournament is Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Cal Poly, California State University-Bakersfield, Eastern Kentucky, Texas Southern, UC Irvine and University of California-Santa Barbara.
On Monday at 8:00 a.m. Pacific time, a shotgun start begins play that features 36 holes of continuous play. The final round starts on Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. as the golfers play the remaining 18 holes. Results will be posted at the end of each day.
The Oak Valley Golf Club features a par-72, 7,078 yard layout located in Beaumont, Calif. DePaul's lineup includes Adrian Halimi, Jonathan Hewett, James Lelliot, Freddy Thomas, and the welcomed addition to the team, Charles Spencer-White. Bobby Thomas is playing as an individual.
Freddy Thomas leads the team with a scoring average of 73.8. He is followed by Jonathan Hewett (74.5), James Lelliott (75.7), and Bobby Thomas (76.2). Freddy Thomas has posted two top 10 finishes this season which includes a first place finish at the John Dallio Memorial.
The Winter Intercollegiate is the first of six events before the BIG EAST Championship beginning on the first of May. DePaul travels to Hilton Head, S.C., for the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate from Feb. 22-23 following this week's competition in southern California.
