DePaul improves its BIG EAST record to 3-1 (9-7 overall) and now sits alone in second place in the BIG EAST standings. Georgetown falls to 1-4 in the BIG EAST and 5-13 overall.
Colleen Smith secured her eighth double-double of the year and fifth straight after recording match-highs with 30 assists and 12 digs.

DePaul and Georgetown opened the match tied at seven-all after an attacking error from Georgetown. With Jameson MacPhie serving, DePaul went on a 6-0 run and took a 13-7 lead. The Hoyas cut the lead to four at 14-10 off an Alyssa Sinnette kill, but that was as close as the Hoyas would get in the set. DePaul built the advantage to seven off a Georgetown attacking error and cruised to a 25-19 set win.
In the second set, the Blue Demons wasted little time gaining the big lead. Smith produced a service ace to make the score 9-4 and forced Georgetown to call a timeout. Coming out of the timeout, the Hoyas took the next point and DePaul answered with a 4-0 rally. The Blue Demons held a 10-point lead on multiple occasions late in the set and won the frame by the same margin after Maxwell registered a kill.
The third set saw 11 ties, eight lead changes and tight play throughout the entire frame. With the score set at 20-20, Georgetown committed a pair of attacking errors and gave DePaul the two-point lead. The Hoyas called a timeout, eventually tied the set again at 24-all and took the lead at 25-24. After giving up the lead, DePaul called a timeout to regroup. Two clutch kills from Maxwell and King helped DePaul retake the lead. Georgetown tied the match one more time at 26-26 before DePaul forced two attacking errors from the Hoyas to help the Blue Demons clinch the set and the match.
DePaul completes a three-match home stand on Wednesday, Oct. 5 when it hosts Butler for a noon match. The Blue Demons go for their first three-match win streak of the 2016 season.
