Blue Demons Finish the Roberta Alison Fall Classic

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Members of the DePaul women's tennis team wrapped up play at the 29th Roberta Alison Fall Classic Saturday evening at the Alabama Tennis Center.
Yuliya Shupenia clinched the Selia Mathew Singles Draw, going 3-0 in singles play for the weekend. Today, Shupenia defeated Kenya Jones 6-0, ret. from Georgia Tech to clinch the draw.
Florence Abbott won her first singles round of the Classic. She defeated Teona Tatishvili from UWA 6-0, 6-4 in the Nancy Pate Draw.
Ana Vladutu dropped her singles match while Patricia Lancranjan withdrew.
In doubles action, the Blue Demon duos went 1-1 for the day.
Shupenia and Vladutu defeated Constanza Gorches and Ally Miller-Krasilnikov from Clemson 8-7, but lost to Georgina Axon and Taylor Russo from Auburn 8-4 in the Shelley Godwin Draw.
Lancranjan and Abbott fell in their first match of the day, but went on to notch a win over Delaney Edwards and Sydney Patton from Chattanooga 8-6 in the Nancy Harris Draw.
Next weekend, DePaul heads to Kalamazoo, Mich. to close out its fall campaign at the Western Michigan Challenge Nov. 4-6.
