Cain, Garrett Lead Blue Demons Over Milwaukee

ROSEMONT, Ill. - DePaul shot nearly 70 percent for most of the second half to extend a three-point halftime lead to win, 77-59, over Milwaukee on Sunday. Billy Garrett Jr. and Eli Cain led the Blue Demons with 20 points apiece.
Both teams opened the afternoon hot as each team shot over 60 percent from the field early in the game. Midway through the first half, the Blue Demons held a 20-14 lead with six different players hitting a basket.
The Blue Demons couldn't quite pull away from the Panthers over the remainder of the first half and went into intermission holding a 30-27 lead.
Eli Cain got on track right away to start the second frame as he scored 10 points in the first four minutes to help the Blue Demons stretch the lead to double-figures. Cain set the tone overall for DePaul as the Blue Demons never looked back after taking a commanding advantage.
DePaul (2-1) didn't let up as the lead remained in double-figures over a majority of the second half. The Blue Demons advantage grew as high as 21 points and the lead dipped below 10 briefly over the final 15 minutes.
Garrett added six rebound and six assists to his 20 points while Cain grabbed five rebounds with a pair of assists. Darrick Wood scored 12 points off the bench with four assists for the Blue Demons.
Milwaukee (1-2) was led by 14 points from Bryce Barnes and 13 points for Bryce Nze.
