
No. 22 DePaul Opens BIG EAST Season

CHICAGO - No. 22 DePaul opens the BIG EAST Conference season on Wednesday when it travels to Washington, D.C. to face Georgetown. The Blue Demons and Hoyas tip at 1 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on the BIG EAST Digital Network which can be accessed at foxsportsgo.com. DePaul (8-4) is coming off a 100-68 victory over Tennessee-Martin last week in which Brooke Schulte made her first five shots en route to scoring a career-high 27 points. Four other Blue Demons scored in double digits paced by Jessica January with Jessica January with 12 points, eight assists and six rebounds. Claire McMahon (12 points) and Chante Stonewall (10) also registered career highs.
The Blue Demons enter the conference season after capturing the last three regular-season titles and sporting a 46-8 BIG EAST record in that span. They also won the conference tournament in 2014 and 2015.
Coach Doug Bruno's team is No.2 in the nation in assists per game, assist/turnover ratio and three-point baskets. DePaul is No. 3 in total assists, No. 4 in three-point field goals per game and three-point attempts and No. 9 in scoring offense.
Jessica January is No. 10 in the country in assists and No. 14 in assists per game. January & Co. lead the BIG EAST in scoring offense, scoring margin, assists, assist/turnover ratio, turnover margin and three-point field goals per game.
Georgetown (8-2) is riding a seven-game winning streak behind the conference's No. 3 and No. 4 scorers, Faith Woodard (15.6 points a game) and Dorothy Adomako (15.4). Dionna White is sixth at 14.7 points. The three Hoyas combine to average a total of 45.7 points a game.
Woodard is third in rebounding at 9.3 per game) and Adomako fifth (7.4). White is tops in steals at 3.6 per game while Woodard leads the BIG EAST in blocked shots at nearly two per game.
Following the Georgetown game, DePaul heads north to face Villanova on Friday.
