
Another BIG EAST Challenge Awaits No. 22 DePaul

VILLANOVA, Pa. - After opening the BIG EAST season in smashing style, No. 22 DePaul (9-4, 1-0) follows up with a conference game on Friday at Villanova (4-7, 0-1). The Blue Demons and Wildcats tip at 6 p.m., and the game will be broadcast on the BIG EAST Digital Network which can be accessed at foxsportsgo.com. DePaul is coming off its third win in a row, a 76-53 triumph over Georgetown Wednesday in Washington, D.C. in which the visiting team spotted the Hoyas a 21-18 lead after one quarter and then outscored them 42-21 over the next two periods including a game-defining 23-8 margin in the third quarter.
Amarah Coleman led the way with 16 points and has reached that figure twice in the last three games. Tanita Allen had a huge game off the bench with career highs in points (14) and rebounds (11). Brooke Schulte notched her first double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds while Jacqui Grant just missed a double-double (13 points, nine rebounds).
Villanova dropped its BIG EAST opener to Marquette on Wednesday by a score of 77-71 despite the one-two punch of Adrianna Hahn's 31 points and five assists and Alex Louin's 22 points and five assists.
The Wildcats have lost three in a row---Temple and No. 17/18 Duke prior to Marquette. Hahn leads the team at 14.3 points a game and Louin is averaging nearly 14 a game.
During its three-game winning streak, DePaul has outscored Loyola Chicago, Tennessee-Martin and Georgetown by a combined 283-167 and an average margin of victory of 38.7 points.
The Blue Demons have won three BIG EAST regular-season titles with a 47-8 league record going into Friday.
Coach Doug Bruno's team is No. 2 in the nation in assists per game, assist/turnover ratio and three-point baskets. DePaul is No. 3 in total assists, No. 4 in three-point field goals per game and three-point attempts and No. 9 in scoring offense.
