DePaul Drops Final Regular Season Game to Seton Hall

ROSEMONT, Ill. - DePaul concluded the regular season Saturday afternoon at Allstate Arena with an 80-66 loss to Seton Hall. Billy Garrett Jr. scored 18 points and Myke Henry added 15 to lead the Blue Demons.
The two sides opened the game by trading baskets and registering a score of 7-7 with 15 minutes left in the first half. Seton Hall broke away on an 11-2 run to take a nine-point lead midway through the half. DePaul (9-21, 3-15 BIG EAST) cut the deficit to four on two separate occasion in the first frame. The first instance came after Aaron Simpson drained a three to make the score 24-20. With the clock winding down, Eli Cain sunk a pair of free throws to set the halftime score at 36-32 in favor of the Pirates.
After a DePaul layup by Rashaun Stimage begin the half, Seton Hall went on a 7-0 rally and pushed the lead back to nine. Right before the midway point of the second half, Garrett hit a three-pointer - the 100th of his career - to cut the deficit down to three.
Seton Hall (22-8, 12-6 BIG EAST) built its lead back to double-digits with just over eight minutes left in the game and carried the lead to a final score of 80-66.
Henry added four rebounds and two steals to his 15 points while Rashaun Stimage added seven points and seven rebounds. Aaron Simpson also chipped in six points, four assists and three boards.
Isaiah Whitehead finished with a game-high 33 points for Seton Hall while Khadeen Carrington added 17 for the Pirates.
The Blue Demons turn their attention to the BIG EAST Tournament at Madison Square Garden. DePaul opens the tournament on March 9 at 7 p.m. ET against Georgetown in the first round. The game can be seen on FS1 and heard on 670 The Score. With a win, the Blue Demons advance to the quarterfinals to faced top-seeded Villanova on Noon ET on Thursday, March 10.
POSTGAME NOTES: Tommy Hamilton IV surpassed 800 points for his career with his first basket of the game... DePaul concluded its 36th season of play at Allstate Arena on Saturday... the Blue Demons play one more season at the facility in 2016-17 before moving to the McCormick Place Event Center for the 2017-18 season... with his third three-point field goal of the game, Billy Garrett Jr. became the 19th player in school history with 100 three's... Garrett (1,148 pts.) passed Andre Brown (1,146 pts., 2000-04) for 35th and Quentin Richardson (1,147 pts., 1998-00) for 34th on DePaul's all-time scoring list... Seton Hall leads the series, 12-6... the Pirates won both meetings this season.
