Women's Tennis Sweeps Butler 7-0

INDIANAPOLIS - The No. 72 DePaul women's tennis team swept Butler 7-0 in Indianapolis on Sunday at the Butler Bubbler to remain undefeated in BIG EAST Conference action.
DePaul (8-7, 2-0 BIG EAST) dominated the quick match for the second year in a row over the Bulldogs (1-22, 0-2 BIG EAST).
In doubles, Patricia Lancranjan and Rebeca Mitrea defeated Kailey Eaton and Jocelyn Koester 6-0. Yuliya Shupenia and Zaina Sufi followed with a 6-1 win at No. 2 over Rachel Sutton and Michelle McFerran. The No. 3 match between Jarret Fisher and Milica Tesic and Jordan Minnick and Callie Schmit did not finish at 3-2.
Sufi started off the singles performance for the Blue Demons, besting Minnick 6-0, 6-4 at No. 4. Lancranjan followed with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Eaton at No. 2. Fisher collected a win at No. 5 over McFerran 6-3, 6-3 while Mitrea defeated Jocelyn Koester 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3. Tesic won at No. 6 over Schmit 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 as Shupenia wrapped up the match with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Sutton at No. 1.
Up next, DePaul heads to Cincinnati for another BIG EAST matchup against Xavier on Saturday, April 9 at noon CT.
