WEST POINT, N.Y. - Taylor Schissler came through right when the Blue Demons needed her the most on Friday night.
With DePaul trailing by a goal well into the second half, Schissler took a pass from Abby Reed and scored from the middle of the field in the 77th minute for a 1-1, double-overtime tie against Hofstra at the Army West Point Fall Classic.
The Blue Demons (0-2-2) had fallen behind one-nil in the 30th minute when Jill Mulholland gathered a loose ball in the 18-yard box and fired in her fourth goal of the season from the center.
DePaul threatened at the end of regulation with an Abby Reed shot that Pride goalkeeper Friederike Mehring just tipped over the crossbar in the 85th minute.
That was followed by a Schissler shot and one from Lucy Edwards in the 87th minute that forced Mehring to make two of her eight saves. Hofstra, which is receiving votes in the NSCAA national poll, is now 3-1-1 on the season.
DePaul returns to Clinton Field on Sunday to face host Army West Point at 12:30 p.m.
