CHICAGO - DePaul kept up its high-powered offense on Sunday at Wish Field.
Goals by Philipp Koenigstein, Erik Rodriguez, Simon Megally and Jake Scheper led the Blue Demons to a 4-1 victory over Northern Kentucky in the Chicago Classic.
DePaul is 2-0-0 in the tournament after last Friday's 3-0 win over Albany and earned the Chicago Classic title by virtue of goal differential. Loyola is 2-0-0 after a 1-0 win over Northern Kentucky on Friday night and a 3-0 victory over Albany on Sunday.
The Blue Demons (2-1-1) wasted little time putting one on the board as Koenigstein fired a shot off the right post and into the Norse net on a free kick from 28 yards in the seventh minute.
Rodriguez added the initial insurance goal in the 53rd minute after being set up by Stijn van der Slot and Megally.
In the70th minute, Megally converted a penalty kick for his first goal of the season. In the 73rd minute, Scheper scored his first goal on a nice pass from Zach El-Shafei.
That gave DePaul seven goals in the last two games. Northern Kentucky (0-3-1) converted a penalty kick in the 88th minute.
Coach Craig Blazer's side will look to maintain its stellar play in the attacking third on Friday night in a nonconference match at Omaha.
