No. 20 DePaul has advanced to the title game of the 2017 Maggie Dixon Classic Saturday and will face a Saint Louis team that is consistently among the best in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
Both teams come into Wintrust Arena with 2-1 records after cruising past their first-round opponents on Friday.
The Blue Demons eased past Delaware State 110-71 in posting 100 or more points for the second game in a row. Led by Ashton Millender's career-high 27 points highlighted by a career best seven 3-pointers, DePaul connected on 15 three-pointers one game after tying a program record with 19 threes against No. 21/21 Oklahoma.
Coach Doug Bruno's players have been on an offensive roll in the early season. They are averaging 103 points a game and have made an average of 14 three-pointers per game.
Millender is at the forefront of a wide-open attack that boasts six players averaging in double figures. The junior guard is scoring 20.7 points per game and Amarah Coleman is contributing with 15 points and four assists a game.
Both Tanita Allen and Mart'e Grays are scoring at a 13.7 clip while Kelly Campbell is averaging 11.3 points and a team-high six assists per game. Chante Stonewall chips in 11 points and nearly four steals a game.
The Billikens will encounter a Blue Demon team that is averaging 27 assists a game while also forcing opponents into 71 turnovers over the first three games.
Saint Louis is outscoring its opponents by an average of 66.3-61.7. Jackie Kemph leads the team at 16.3 points per game while 6-foot, 4-inch Maddison Gits is averaging a double-double of 11.7 points and 12.7 rebounds. Jordyn Frantz is scoring 10.3 points a game.
