
Golf falls to Notre Dame

DADE CITY, Fla. - The DePaul men's golf team opened the spring season with their first match of Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play on the courses of Lake Jovita Golf Club. The No. 7 seeded Blue Demons fell to No. 2 seeded Notre Dame by a score of 4-2.
Freddy Thomas and Jonathan Hewett earned wins for the Blue Demons. In the first spot, Thomas closed out the first match up four with two holes to go. In the second position, Hewett edged Ben Albin of Notre Dame by 1-up on the match.
Bobby Thomas, James Lelliott, and Kyle Vincze all fell in narrow defeats with their respective opponents up two holes after the 17th.
Newcomer Garret Buckley made his DePaul debut with a slim defeat as Notre Dame's Davis Lamb edged Buckley on the 18th hole.

DePaul is back out on the course today for the second round of match play against the No. 6 seed Ohio.
Following this afternoon's second match, the Blue Demons are slated for the final match of Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play Tuesday morning with an 8:30a.m. ET shotgun start.
