The Rebels got on board first in the bottom of the second inning. Leadoff hitter Janine Petmecky singled to reach first and then rounded the bases after UNLV's next two batters grounded out. Petmecky then scored off a DePaul error.
UNLV tacked on an additional run in the third before recording two more in the fourth.
In the fourth, with one out and runners on second a third, a single by Chrissi Omalza brought in the first runner. Mara Kemmer followed with another single to score the other runner.
Kayla Landwehrmier replaced Garcia in the circle in the top of the fifth, but UNLV managed to score another two runs against the junior pitcher.
The Blue Demons tallied their two runs in the bottom of the fifth off of UNLV's new pitcher, Breana Burke. With one out and Haydn Christensen on first, Viles came to the plate and sent the ball to a UNLV fielder who committed an error on the play, allowing Haydn Christensen to score the unearned run and Viles to reach second. Viles then scored off a double from Cothern to make the score 6-2.
UNLV recorded its final run in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and a runner a third, a fielder's choice sent the runner at third home for the final 7-2 mark.
Landwehrmier allowed three earned runs on four hits. She faced 11 batters in two innings.
