Softball Bests Cleveland State 4-0

ROCK HILL, S.C. - DePaul softball won its first Saturday game of the Winthrop Invitational with a 4-0 mark over Cleveland State.
DePaul (7-6) is now 3-0 in the tournament. Dylan Christensen ended the game with two hits and two RBI. Alysia Rodriguez also recorded two hits.
Missy Zoch notched the win in the circle, her third of the season. Zoch pitched a complete game, recording five strikeouts, one walk and three hits in the 26 batters she faced.
Alicia Major suffered the loss for the Cleveland State (1-5).
It was a scoreless game until DePaul posted its first run in the bottom of the fifth. With pinch runner Skylor Hilger on first, Sabrina Kuchta notched a sacrifice hit for Hilger to reach second. Dylan Christensen followed with a single through the left side to advance Hilger to third. The two went on to steal their next respective bases, Hilger's being home for the first run.
The Blue Demons scored their final three runs in the sixth. After Rodriguez singled to left field, Kuchta came to the plate and drove a hit right to center field. The runners moved up on the throw, and Haydn Christensen scored from second. Brianna Viles replaced Kuchta on base and scored along with Rodriguez off a Dylan Christensen single.
The game ended 4-0 after the top of the seventh.
The Blue Demons return to Terry Field at 3 p.m. CT to take on Winthrop.
