Blue Demons Drop Home Opener of Saturday Doubleheader

CHICAGO - DePaul didn't fare well in its home opener Saturday, dropping a 10-5 decision to Seton Hall in the first game of a BIG EAST Conference doubleheader at Cacciatore Stadium.
Seton Hall (15-12-1, 2-2 in BIG EAST) jumped out to a 6-0 lead after three innings with the big blow coming in the top of the second. After Sara Foster RBI single to right field, Destini Peck hit a bases-loaded double to right for three RBIs.
The Blue Demons (14-14, 1-2) got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth when Nicole Pihl crossed the plate and added another run in the fifth thanks to Alysia Rodriguez's RBI double to center.
Seton Hall extended its lead to 8-2 in the top of the sixth. DePaul came within three in the bottom of the inning on Brianna Viles' two-run double and Rodriguez's RBI double.
The Pirates kept up the attack and added two more insurance runs in the seventh.
Game two was scheduled to start half an hour after the conclusion of the first game.
