Softball Falls 1-0 to UIC

CHICAGO - DePaul softball dropped a 1-0 contest to its city rival, UIC on Wednesday evening at Flames Field.
DePaul (24-18) was held to just one hit in the city showdown with Dylan Christensen registering the stat.
The Blue Demons utilized three pitchers on its staff. Kennedy Garcia started and pitched the first four innings. She struck out four and allowed four hits in the 16 batters she faced.
Krista Dalgarn started the fourth inning, but was replaced by Garcia after leadoff batter Savannah Soppet singled. Soppet then rounded the bases and scored off of additional UIC singles. Dalgarn suffered the loss.
Missy Zoch pitched the rest of the game for the Blue Demons. She allowed one hit and walked one in the eight batters she faced.
Elaine Heflin collected the win in the circle for UIC (31-18) while Allie Trudeau earned the save.
Dylan Christensen's hit came in the top of the third with a single down the right field line with two outs. The Blue Demons next batter recorded a pop out to end the offensive threat and leave Christensen on first.
DePaul heads to Villanova next to resume BIG EAST action in Villanova, Pa. April 29-30. The three-game series begins with a doubleheader on Saturday at 11 a.m. and wraps up on Sunday with a game at 10 a.m. CT.
