
Women's Tennis Sweeps Villanova

CAYCE, S.C. - No. 2 DePaul women's tennis blanked No. 7 Villanova 4-0 in the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST Women's Tennis Championship on Friday afternoon at the Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center.
Patricia Lancranjan and Florence Abbott led the way for the Blue Demons (15-7) with wins in singles and doubles.
Lancranjan paired with Keisha Clousing for a 6-4 win at No. 2 over Kaylan Rotman and Linley Busby, while Abbott notched a 6-3 decision with Ana Vladutu against Carina Burdick and Connor Brewer to claim the first point of the match.
No. 112 Yuliya Shupenia collected the Blue Demons' first singles point with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Lindsey Evans at No. 1.
Lancranjan met Rotman again, this time on the singles front, to record a 6-1, 6-2 mark at No. 3.
Abbott etched the fourth point over Busby with a 6-3, 6-3 finish.
With the win, DePaul advances to the semifinals of the tournament and will play No. 3 Georgetown or No. 6 Seton Hall on Saturday, April 29 at 11:30 a.m. CT.
