2017 Volleyball Schedule Unveiled

CHICAGO - DePaul volleyball coach Nadia Edwards announced the 2017 schedule that features 30 regular-season matches for the Blue Demons and opens Friday, Aug. 25. The 2017 slate has four tournaments, including the DePaul Invitational on Sept. 8-9 and 18 BIG EAST Conference matchups.
Following an exhibition match on Aug. 19 against Northern Illinois, the Blue Demons open the 2017 slate at the Indiana Invitational. The two-day event is Aug. 25-26 and the Blue Demons face Indiana State, Indiana and Ball State.
Overall, DePaul will play in four tournaments prior to the BIG EAST schedule. Tournament play features opponents from 10 different conferences. The Blue Demons are also scheduled to play in the UIC Invitational (Aug. 31-Sept. 2) and the Saint Louis Billiken Invitational (Sept. 15-16) in addition to hosting the annual DePaul Invitational (Sept. 8-9).
Following matches against Idaho and UIC in the UIC Invitational, DePaul will host Northwestern, Army and Milwaukee in the DePaul Invitational at McGrath-Phillips Arena. The two-day, six-match event opens with Northwestern and Milwaukee followed by DePaul and Army on Friday. The round-robin format continues Saturday with the Blue Demons hosting Army and Northwestern.
A non-conference road match at Loyola on Sept. 12 precedes the final tournament with the Saint Louis Billiken Invitational. DePaul faces host Saint Louis on Friday along with Louisiana Tech and Little Rock on Saturday.
The BIG EAST schedule features 18 matches where each team plays a home-and-home series against the other nine conference teams.
BIG EAST matches for the Blue Demons begin on the road at Xavier on Wednesday, Sept. 20. DePaul then returns home to face St. Johns and Seton Hall on Sept. 22 and 23.
The Blue Demons play five of their first nine BIG EAST games on the road this year. A four-game road stretch from Oct. 27 to Nov. 5 leads into a season-ending three-game homestand. DePaul hosts Villanova on Nov. 10 and Georgetown on Nov. 12 before Senior Day on Saturday, Nov. 18 against Marquette.
The BIG EAST Tournament is scheduled for Nov. 24 and 25 in Milwaukee, Wis. The top four regular-season finishers in the conference standings advance to the league's tournament at the Al McGuire Center.
