Blue Demons Finish Strong at Blue and Gold Invite

DePaul men's and women's track & field saw many top-three performances at Notre Dame
NOTRE DAME, IND. — The DePaul men's and women's track & field teams finished their first indoor meet of the season at the Blue and Gold Invitational on Friday. Individiual winners of the day include Chris Cadet, Caroline Muller, Kyle Decker, Adam Nelson, Henry Larkin and the men's relay team of Kolani Cole, Kyle Casper, Isaac Walker & Larkin.
The women's team saw five top-three finishes in the field events. Newcomer Esther Aldana 5.17m in the long jump to claim third while teammate Jade Nolan finished second with a distance of 5.38m. Caroline Muller took home the gold in the high jump measuring a distance of 1.62m. Entering her sophomore season, Jade Gates tallied in a distance of 17.04m in the weight throw to take third in the event. Rounding out the women's field events, Emily Eller placed third in the shot put with a distance of 14.38m.
Competing on the track, the Blue Demon women's squad also saw success in multiple events. Kaitlen Crawford finished 5thin the 60m hurdles prelims to advance and see a 4thplace finish in the final round with a time of 9.18. In the 60m trials, all three Blue Demons advanced to the finals with Brooks earning silver in the final (7.70) and Aldana claiming third (7.89). Dominating the 400m dash, DePaul swept the podium with Kiersten Walker (57.47), Rutendo Chimbaru (58.26) and Isabel Ingram (59.87) coming in the first three spots, respectively.
The men's field team saw success in the triple jump with Chris Cadet taking home the gold with a distance of 14.05m.
Starting the track performance with a victory, Kyle Decker won the 60m hurdles preliminary round with a time of 8.42. Fellow Blue Demon Babajide Bamgbose also qualified to compete in the final round of the 60m hurdles. The pair took home first and fourth with Decker clocking in a time of 8.36 and Bamgbose with 8.724. Adam Nelson took first place in the 60m dash in both the prelims and finals ending with a time of 6.92. Antonio Pavloski qualified for the final round in that event and took fourth. Larkin had a standout performance in the men's 400m event to claim gold with a time of 48.86. Rounding out the day was a first place finish by the men's 4x400m relay of Cole, Casper, Walker and Larkin who edged past host Notre Dame to claim the title with a time of 3:18.46.

The Blue Demon men's and women's squads will take December intercession and return ready to go when they compete at the University of Wisconsin on Saturday, Jan. 12.
