CONWAY, S.C. - The Blue Demons gave it their best shot under adverse circumstances Saturday at the Stevens Tennis Complex.
They return to Lincoln Park after a 5-2 loss at Coastal Carolina in their sixth consecutive road match.
DePaul (6-10) competed with just four players as three Blue Demons are sidelined by a combination of injuries and illness.
That resulted in coach Mark Ardizzone's team having to forfeit two singles matches and one doubles match as Coastal Carolina (16-6) won its 11th straight at the Stevens Tennis Complex. Overall, the Chanticleers have won nine of their last 10.
Aspasia Avgeri came away with a 5-7, 7-5, 1-0 victory over Iryna Vardanian at No. 2 singles. Freshman Alina Kuzmenkova scored a point after knocking off Sara Bondar 7-5, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.
Kuzmenkova had a successful trip through South Carolina winning a pair of singles matches and one doubles match.
The Blue Demons conclude a tough stretch playing seven-straight away from Lincoln Park with a BIG EAST match next Saturday at Marquette.
