Women's Tennis Drops Season Opener at Purdue

Kuzmenkova, Avgeri notch singles victories
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- DePaul women's tennis ran into a tough Big Ten opponent in its dual season opener on Saturday morning.
The Blue Demons came out on the short end of a 5-2 decision on the road at Purdue on the courts of the Schwartz Tennis Center.
The match opened with the Boilermakers (5-2) sweeping the doubles matches en route to claiming the doubles point.
At No. 2 singles, Alina Kuzmenkova came through with a 4-6, 6-4, 4-2 win over Purdue's Ena Babic. Aspasia Avgeri recorded a point for the Blue Demons after her straight set 6-2, 6-3 victory over Alex Sabe at No. 4.
DePaul (0-1) will make the short trip to Kalamazoo for its second match of the season against Western Michigan on Sunday at 10 a.m.
