Brooks leads Blue Demons at Illini Invitational

Multiple season- and career-bests set at competition
CHAMPAIGN, Ill – The DePaul men's and women's track & field teams return from the UI Armory in Champaign, Ill. setting season- and career-bests led by senior Alexia Brooks. The all-day event was held by the University of Illinois and saw competitors from across the area compete in the Illini Invitational.
The field events saw some nice success setting both career and season-bests among their squad. In the weight throw, Rebecca Chourinard threw a 15.18. to set her new personal best on the women's side, while the men's side saw Dominic Marshall and Ben Litwin hit their season- and career-best 16.25m and 14.49m, respectively. In the long jump, Esther Aldana improved on her score with a 5.15m, narrowing in on her career-best 5.17m. In the shot put competition, Dylan Marshall threw a season-best 11.83 to round off the accolades.
In the running side of the competition, Alexia Brooks earned gold in the 60-meter hurdle competition with a time of 8.43. Last season, Brooks met and then broke the school record in the event at the same competition. Noah Deck set a career-best in the one mile run clocking in a time of 4:18.44. Many of the Blue Demons made their debut with the competition season in full swing.
Up Next:
The Blue Demon men's and women's squads travel out of state to where they started the season: Notre Dame, Ind. The Fighting Irish will host the two-day event Friday, Feb. 1 and Saturday, Feb. 2.
