DePaul Alumni Trio to Compete at 2026 USATF Outdoor Championships

Olivia Borowiak, Darius Brown, Noelle Malkamaki round out Blue Demons in New York
NEW YORK, N.Y. – A star-studded trio of DePaul track and field alumni will take center stage this week at the 2026 USATF Outdoor & Para National Championships, hosted at Icahn Stadium in New York, N.Y., from July 23-25. Six-time DePaul record holder Olivia Borowiak ('22), four-time All-American Darius Brown ('25) and Team USA Paralympic gold medalist Noelle Malkamaki ('24) headline the group.

Olivia Borowiak ('22)
Borowiak still holds six DePaul program records: the indoor mile (4:42.44, 2024), 3000m (9:15.67, 2024) and 5000m (16:22.66, 2023), the outdoor 5000m (15:55.46, 2024), and both the indoor (11:22.15, 2023) and outdoor (11:26.07, 2024) Distance Medley Relay. A six-time BIG EAST medalist in the DMR, 3000m, 5000m and 4x800m relay, Borowiak advanced to the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds twice (2022, 2024) and the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships in 2022, off a sixth-place Midwest Regional finish.
As a professional, Borowiak sits at No. 305 in the world in the 10,000m and No. 396 in road running, per World Athletics, with bests of 1:11:16 in the half marathon, 33:17.73 in the 10,000m and 54:32 in the 10 miles. She'll close out her USATF week in the event where she made her name at DePaul, the 10,000m, on July 23.
Darius Brown ('25)
Brown is a four-time All-American (two First Team, two Second Team) and eight-time BIG EAST champion, closing his collegiate career with 18 conference podium finishes. He's also a three-time BIG EAST record holder, in the 60m hurdles, 110m hurdles and 4x100m relay, and holds six DePaul program records. Indoors: 60m hurdles (7.61, 2025), 300m dash (33.28, 2024), and the 4x400m relay (3:09.48 with Lewis, Fasasi and Terry, 2024). Outdoors: 110m hurdles (13.37, 2025), 400m hurdles (51.10, 2023), and the 4x100m relay (39.55 with Cole, Lewis and Rolle, 2025).
Brown capped his DePaul career at the 2025 USATF Outdoor Championships, running 13.54 in the opening round to earn an automatic qualifier before placing 16th overall, and sixth among collegians, in a 110m hurdles semifinal field stacked with professionals and World Championships-bound competitors.
Now racing professionally, Brown enters this week's championships ranked No. 76 in the world in the men's 110m hurdles by World Athletics, carrying personal bests of 7.50 in the 60m hurdles (set this February at the USA Indoor Championships) and 13.37 in the 110m hurdles. He carried that momentum onto the international circuit in 2026, picking up a pair of wins at the Meeting de Paris Indoor and competing in Liévin, France, and Burnaby, Canada. He returns to the national stage this week, with first round action July 25 and a shot at the final July 26.
Noelle Malkamaki ('24)
Malkamaki's trajectory since leaving DePaul has been remarkable. Competing in the F46 shot put classification, she's been unbeaten at USATF Para Nationals since 2022, when she won her first national title with an American-record throw of 12.18m. She broke the F46 world record the following year with a 12.63m mark en route to the first of back-to-back World Para Athletics Championships golds in 2023 and 2024, then pushed the record further, to 13.32m and eventually 13.60m at the 2024 U.S. Paralympic Trials. In 2025, she captured her fourth-consecutive national title with a winning throw of 12.63m, punching her ticket to the World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi, India.
Malkamaki's résumé also includes a Team USA Paralympic gold medal and BIG EAST recognition as the conference's 2024 NCAA Woman of the Year honoree. She returns to the national circuit this week to defend her standing as the world record holder in the F46 shot put on July 25, live on USATF.TV.
