The last meet saw six new PRs on the men’s side and three for the women’s squad
CHICAGO – DePaul cross country heads to its final meet of the regular season as the men's and women's teams compete in the Bradley Pink Classic in Peoria, Ill. Both teams will compete in the red races with the men's 8K kicking off at 2:30 p.m. followed by the women's 6K at 3:15 p.m. at the Newman Golf Course.
Â
The men's team is coming off a race that saw all of the competing Blue Demons place new personal bests, including senior Henry Harper's impressive 78-second shave of his 8K PR. The squad was led by junior Charlie McIntyre who clocked in a time of 24:36.3 at the Live in Lou Classic. The Chesterfield, Mo. native has now led the men's team three times this season.
Â
"We are excited to compete at Bradley – they have a wonderful course. The meet is run very much like a championship meet," said associate head coach Derrick Peterson. "With this being our last meet of the regular season, it's a great springboard for us going into championship season with the BIG EAST Championships in two weeks."
Â
Following the race that saw over 340 competitors, the women's team looks to continue its momentum after seeing four Blue Demons set new PRs in the 5K at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park two weeks ago. The squad was led by freshman Alexa Havon who clocked an impressive 18:14.5 to set a personal best. Freshman Violet Harper and senior Courtney Pickering have both led the Blue Demons twice during the regular season campaign.
Â
"With October being Pink Month, we appreciate this meet honoring the cause every year. We will be honoring those in our lives that are fighting –and have bravely fought– cancer by wearing their names on our bibs and sporting a pink ribbon on our uniforms," added Peterson.
