Blue Demons Travel to Cincinnati for Musketeer Classic

Final tournament of Fall schedule on Monday and Tuesday
CHICAGO – The Blue Demons compete in the final tournament of the Fall season on Monday and Tuesday at the Musketeer Classic. The event host by Xavier features three rounds over two days with 36 holes on Monday followed by the final 18 holes on Tuesday at Maketewah Country Club in Cincinnati
The field features four BIG EAST programs including host Xavier and DePaul. The remainder of the field includes Ball State, Butler, Creighton, Eastern Kentucky, Indiana, IUPUI, Morehead State, Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa, Northern Kentucky, Oakland, Ohio State, West Virginia and Wisconsin. Indiana, Ohio State, West Virginia and Wisconsin have individuals only competing.
Maketewah Country Club features a par 71 layout over 6,809 yards in Cincinnati. An 8:30 a.m. ET shotgun start opens the tournament on Monday morning followed by tee times starting at 9 a.m ET for Tuesday's final round. Live scoring is available at GolfStat.com.
DePaul's lineup includes Stephen Sul, Nik Gatmaytan, Noah Kolar, Perry Chong and Conor Glennon. Grant Boyson is also playing as an individual.
Wolf Named BIG EAST Golfer of the Week: Coming off the best finish of his collegiate career, DePaul sophomore Campbell Wolf was named the BIG EAST Golfer of the Week by the league office. Wolf finished in a tie for third at the NKU Fall Classic with the lowest tournament score of his career.
Wolf posted rounds of 72 (+1), 67 (-4) and 73 (+2) to finish at 212 (-1). The 67 in the second round matched the best round of his collegiate career while the third place finish marked his second top 25 showing in two events this season.
The weekly honor is the first for Wolf and the first by a DePaul golfer since Charlie Spencer-White last season in March 2019.
Gatmaytan Goes Low: In the third round of the Crusader Collegiate, junior Nik Gatmaytan turned in the best round of his career with a sizzling six-under score of 66 to finish in a tie for sixth place. His round was the lowest by a DePaul golfer since the 2004-05 season.
Gatmaytan's circuit was bogey-free at Sand Creek CC with six birdies. After starting the day in a tie for 21st place, he moved up the leaderboard into a tie for sixth for the best finish of his collegiate career. Gatmaytan finished the tournament with a score of 213 (-3).
His round of 66 was the best round by a Blue Demon since Matt McMahon's record of 63 (-7) at the The Tillinghast at Fenway GC in Scarsdale, N.Y. in October 2004.
Fall Recap: Crusader Collegiate (Sept. 16-17) – Nik Gatmaytan finished in a tie for sixth that included a 66 (-6) in the third round... the 66 was the lowest score in a round by a DePaul golfer in 15 years... the team placed sixth out of 15 teams... Noah Kolar (t16th), Stephen Sul (t25th) and Campbell Wolf (t25th) each finished in the top 25. NKU Fall Classic (Sept. 23-24) – Campbell Wolf recorded the best finish of his collegiate career in a tie for third with a score of 212 (-1)... Nik Gatmaytan also finished in a tie for 16th place with a 219 (+6)... the Blue Demons finished in a tie for second out of 12 teams. Georgetown Intercollegiate (Oct. 14-15) – Stephen Sul (222, +9) was the top finisher for the Blue Demons in a tie for 27th place while the team finished 12th... Nik Gatmaytan (223, +10) followed Sul in a tie for 32nd while Noah Kolar (230, +17) finished in a group in 53rd place.
Looking Ahead: Following the Musketeer Classic, the final event of the fall schedule is a match against Loyola-Chicago on Oct. 28 at Evanston Golf Club. A day before the match between the Blue Demons and Ramblers, alumni from both programs will play in an alumni match-play event. The 2020 portion of the schedule starts with the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play on Feb. 10-11 in Dade City, Fla.
Dallio Memorial Returns: An event in the memory of former DePaul golfer John Dallio returns to the schedule as DePaul hosts the John Dallio Match Play on April 10. The four-team event will be played at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club in Lemont as the program hosted a fall tournament in Dallio's name through the 2016-17 season.
