DePaul Takes Down Georgetown on Senior Night

CHICAGO - The Blue Demons are now 12-15 (4-11 BIG EAST) after topping Georgetown in four sets 3-1 (25-21, 25-12, 23-25, 25-11) in the final home contest of the 2019 season Saturday evening.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET ONE » Georgetown jumped out to a 3-1 lead and DePaul tied it at 3-3 on a Donna Brown kill. The Blue Demons later went on a 4-0 run courtesy of an Avarie Evans-Allen kill, Katie Dolan service ace and two Hoya service errors to lead 10-5 and force a Georgetown timeout. Out of the stoppage, DePaul saw a 3-0 burst capped off by a Donna Brown to expand the lead to 16-12 and bring another Hoya timeout. DePaul continued to lead for the remainder of the set and took the first one 25-21.Â
SET TWO » DePaul burst into a 10-3 lead and later went on a 5-0 run capped off by a Donna Brown kill to lead 16-7 and urge a Georgetown timeout. Out of the break, DePaul continued to grow its lead and took the second set 25-12.
SET THREE » Emma Price put DePaul on the board first and the score eventually knotted at 3-3 and again at 15-15. Both teams stayed in the fight and DePaul came within one at 22-23 but Georgetown took the set 25-23.
SET FOUR » A monster kill from Brown put DePaul on the board first. The score knotted at 3-3 before DePaul went on a 4-0 run to lead 7-3 and urge a Georgetown timeout. A 9-0 run from DePaul expanded the lead to 19-6. Back-to-back kills from Brittany Maxwell gave DePaul its final set 25-11.
NEXT UP
DePaul travels for one final weekend of play. The Blue Demons will compete at Providence Friday, Nov. 22 at 5 p.m. and will play the final 2019 contest Sunday, Nov. 24 at 11 a.m. Creighton.Â
