Conference Play Starts with Seton Hall Monday Night

CHICAGO - The Blue Demons open the 18-game BIG EAST slate with a Monday night game against preseason favorite Seton Hall. DePaul claimed both meetings over the Pirates last season with a combined margin of victory of just five points. Start time at Wintrust Arena is set for 7:30 p.m.

Monday's game can be seen on FS1 with Lisa Byington (play-by-play) and Steve Lavin (analyst) handling the broadcast duties. Seton Hall is 8-4 overall and receiving votes in both polls entering league play following a 75-55 win against Prairie View A&M on Dec. 22. DePaul stands at 12-1 and is also receiving votes in the national polls. The Blue Demons concluded the non-conference schedule with an 83-78 win over Northwestern on Dec. 21.

Best Non-Conference Record: DePaul's 12-1 non-conference record is the best regular-season mark since DePaul joined the Great Midwest Conference. Prior to the 1991-92 season, the Blue Demons were an independent before competing in the Great Midwest (1991-95), Conference USA (1995-05) and now the BIG EAST since the 2005-06 season. The one loss this season is the only non-conference slate with a single loss as the 1993-94 squad went 12-2 before starting conference games.

DePaul is 3-0 against opponents from the Big Ten this season... the Blue Demons posted road wins at Iowa (93-78) and Minnesota (73-68) in November.

Jaylen Butz recorded his first career 20-point game with a career-high 24 points... he was named the Waldo Fisher-Frank McGrath Award winner as the MVP of the game.

Moore is seventh in total assists and ranked 12th in assists per game. Reed is tied for first in double-doubles, ranked sixth in blocked shots per game, tied for sixth in total blocked shots and defensive rebounds per game, ranked eighth in total rebounds and 11th in rebounds per game.

In the BIG EAST statistical rankings, a DePaul player leads in seven categories. Jaylen Butz leads the league in field goal percentage while Moore is first in assists per game and tied for first in steals per game. Reed leads the league in double-doubles, rebounds per game, blocked shots per game and defensive rebounds per game.

The Opponent – Seton Hall Pirates: Seton Hall is 8-4 overall entering the BIG EAST opener... the Pirates have won two straight... most recently, Seton Hall knocked off Prairie View, 75-55, on Dec. 22... Myles Powell leads the team with 21.2 points per game and 35 three-pointers in 10 games... Powell was named the BIG EAST Preseason Player of the Year and the Pirates were the preseason pick to win the conference...
