Rousing Comeback Propels No. 16/15 DePaul Past Green Bay 76-65

Lexi Held ignites the rally with 13 points in the fourth quarter for fifth win in a row
GREEN BAY, Wis. – What No. 16/15 DePaul did on a Saturday afternoon at the Kress Center was take a measure of the team's TQ---Toughness Quotient.
Against a dangerous Green Bay team that specializes in imposing its will on opponents by forcing them to play a grinding, physical game, the Blue Demons toughed it out by a 76-65 final margin for their fifth win in a row.
DePaul (7-1) overcame a cold-shooting first half resulting in a season-low 25 points and a 13-point deficit midway through the third quarter. But Lexi Held led the way back with 13 points in the fourth quarter hitting one big shot after another.
Held finished with 21 points and fellow sophomore Sonya Morris came through with 17 points, five rebounds and four assists. Kelly Campbell had a huge game with 10 points, 13 rebounds and six assists. Chante Stonewall contributed 10 points and four steals.
Stonewall, Campbell and Held sparked a fast start to the final 10 minutes helping their team take a 64-59 lead at the fourth quarter media timeout. Stonewall had a nice steal and assist to Held for a layup and after Kiara Dallmann's basket, Held came right back with a timely three-pointer.
Another Held jumper put DePaul up by eight until Green Bay hit a pair of foul shots. The Phoenix came within 64-61 when it was Held for three again. Stonewall's basket and another three by Held made it 72-65. Four Campbell free throws closed it out.
Trailing 34-25 at halftime, the Blue Demons came out in the third quarter looking for a big comeback. A pair of Stonewall free throws cut the deficit to 42-36 but Green Bay scored the next seven points to move in front by 13 at the media timeout.
A 9-2 Blue Demon run cut the Green Bay lead to 51-45 as Morris hit two clutch shots along with two Held foul shots and Jolene Daninger three. Morris hit another jumper and Daninger connected again from deep to pull their team within 51-50. It was 53-50 heading into the fourth quarter.
DePaul got off to a slow start, hitting just one of its first eight shots. Morris connected from deep for the only points as her team trailed 10-3 at the first quarter media timeout.
Three-pointers by Campbell and Morris and another Morris jumper ignited the offense as the Blue Demons closed out the first quarter with an 8-2 burst to trail 12-11. Morris had eight of her team's points as DePaul went 4-for-19.
Kiara Dallmann's first shot as a Blue Demon was a three-pointer tying the game 14-14 early in the second quarter. Jolene Daninger made a nice lead pass to a streaking Dee Bekelja for a breakaway layup that made it 16-16.
Keke Rimmer stole the ball moments after entering the game and scored on a driving layup for an 18-16 DePaul lead at the media timeout. Stonewall followed with a jumper.
It was all Phoenix the rest of the second quarter as the home team went into its halftime locker room after an 18-5 run. DePaul looked to regroup down 34-25 at halftime.
The visiting team dug a hole after shooting just 10-of-40 from the floor in the first half including 5-of-26 from three-point range.
