DePaul Falls to Texas A&M Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI -- The DePaul men's tennis team wrapped up their three match weekend at the 53rd annual H-E-B Tournament of Champions on Saturday afternoon dropping a 4-1 decision to host Texas A&M Corpus Christi.

The Islanders took two doubles matches over the Blue Demons to take the early 1-0 advantage. William Mottet and Thomas Rodrigues Lopes secured a 6-3 win over Boris Spanjaard and Christopher Casati at No. 1, while Fran Tonejc and Vito Tonejc fell 7-5 to Francois Kellerman and Okkie Kellerman at the No. 2 position.

In singles action, Texas A&M Corpus Christi took the first two matches at No. 6 and No. 2 to widen their match lead to 3-0.

Fran Tonejc provided the spark for the Blue Demons at No. 5 with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 win over Okkie Kellerman to improve his dual season record to 7-5.

The Islanders clinched the 4-1 victory with Thomas Rodrigues Lopes' defeat of Luuk Wassenaar at No. 3, 7-5, 3-6, 6-3.

DePaul (7-6, 2-0) will take two weeks off before traveling to take on BIG EAST foe Xavier on Mar. 8 at Noon.
