
Men's Tennis Faces Pair of BIG EAST Opponents

Blue Demons travel to Xavier on Friday and Marquette on Saturday
CHICAGO – After taking a week off with a break in the schedule, DePaul men's tennis is back in action this weekend with a pair of BIG EAST road matches.

The Blue Demons are 7-6 in the dual-match season and looking to extend their conference winning streak to three in a row Friday at Xavier with a noon start time. They have defeated Georgetown and Creighton in league play.

They will drive from Cincinnati to Milwaukee for a Saturday showdown against rival Marquette with first serve at 7 p.m.

Vito Tonejc is ready to resume his hot start as the talented freshman has compiled an impressive 9-3 singles record at the outset of his collegiate dual-match career.

His older brother Fran Tonejc is 7-5 in the dual season while Chris Casati is 5-4.

In doubles, the tandem of Colin O'Meara and Luuk Wassenaar is 6-2 and Boris Spanjaard and Casati are 3-2.

Xavier is 4-9 in the dual season and 0-2 in the BIG EAST, losing to Georgetown and Villanova. The Musketeers have won three of their last four matches, knocking off Wright State, Northern Kentucky and Cleveland State.

Saturday will be the BIG EAST opener for Marquette, which is 6-5 overall. The Golden Eagles are 4-0 on their home court and have won three of their last four with triumphs over IUPUI, Chicago State and Montana.
