Golf in Second After BIG EAST First Round

Three players in top 15 lead Blue Demons on day one at Callawassie Island
OKATIE, S.C. – Three individuals in the top 15 propelled DePaul to second place in the first round of the BIG EAST Championship. The second and third rounds remain on Saturday and Sunday as the Blue Demons are in the hunt for the program's first BIG EAST title.
Charlie Spencer-White, Joe McCarthy and Campbell Wolf are all in the top 15 with Spencer-White tied for second, McCarthy in sixth place and Wolf in a group in 13th place. DePaul finished with a team score of 301 (+13) for the team's best first-round score at Callawassie Island Club since a 300 at the 2016 BIG EAST Championship. Creighton leads the field after 18 holes with a team score of 298 (+10).
Spencer-White is tied for second place with three other competitors after carding a 73 (+1) on Friday. McCarthy stands in sixth and is a shot behind Spencer-White with a 74 (+2) in the first round. Creighton's Bradley Keyer is alone at the top of the leaderboard after an even-par 72 to open the tournament.
Wolf is tied for 13th and followed by Carlo Antonio Gatmaytan in a tie for 21st and Grant Boyson in a tie for 42nd place. Wolf posted a 76 (+4) while Gatmaytan finished with a 78 (+6) and Boyson carded an 85 (+13).
The Blue Demons are two shots ahead of third-place Marquette (303) while Butler (304) is fourth and Villanova (309) and Seton Hall (309) are tied for fifth place.
Saturday's second round is scheduled for an 8 a.m. ET start at Callawassie Island and live stats are available at GolfStat.com.
