Blue Demons Fall in Home Finale

CHICAGO -- In DePaul's final outing at the Lakeshore Sport and Fitness center of the 2019 season the Blue Demons fell short to Drake.

The Bulldogs (16-13, 5-1 Summit) came out on top, 4-1, over the Blue Demons (10-11, 4-2 BIG EAST) in Saturday night's second half of the DePaul tennis doubleheader.

Drake took the doubles point with a win at the No. 1 spot by Vinny Gillespie and Bayo Philips over Boris Spanjaard and Christopher Casati, 6-4, and a victory at No. 3 with Tom Hands and Ben Clark emerging victorious over Conor O'Meara and Luuk Wassenaar, 6-4.

The Bulldogs took singles victories at No. 1, No.3, and No. 5 to clinch the match.

Tamas Zador proved to be the bright spot for the Blue Demons as the junior took down Freddie Powell at No. 6, 6-3, 6-2.

Following the match, the Blue Demons honored lone senior Conor O'Meara for all of his contributions and commitment to the DePaul tennis program.

DePaul will wrap up the regular season next weekend when the Blue Demons travel to Indianapolis for a BIG EAST contest with butler on April 14 at 11 a.m. CT.
