DePaul Welcomes Sasha Bolla to Volleyball Program
5/21/2019 10:34:00 AM | WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
CHICAGO, Ill. - DePaul head coach Marie Zidek announced last week that Sasha Bolla has completed all necessary paperwork and will join the women's volleyball program starting with the 2019 season.
"What makes Sasha a special recruit is that she is one of the best at blocking and net play," said Zidek. "She finds ways to be involved in every play at the net no matter who gets set and has a natural ability to get stuff blocks and controlled touches.
"As we look to strengthen our defensive presence in order to slow down major attackers we face in the BIG EAST and beyond, we have been looking for players that have this 'nose for the ball' mentality. She fits perfectly what we have been looking for. As well, she is versatile offensively and will be a weapon we use in the attack.
"Her youth volleyball experience has seen her attack from the middle and pin spots. She can hit quicks and high balls, which makes her extremely valuable on the offensive side. Sasha comes from a legendary sporting family, so she understands the opportunity and value high level athletics provides. Both of her parents have been stand-out basketball athletes as well as coaches at the NCAA DI level, so from an early age, she has had high expectations of herself and the teams she has played on.
"Most importantly, her character; work ethic; coachability; sportsmanship; selfless teammate mentality; and high ceiling make her a perfect fit for DePaul Volleyball and our University mission as a whole. She is thrilled to put on the DePaul jersey, and will push this program forward in many ways. We are thrilled to add Sasha and the entire Bolla family to our already stellar 2019 class."
Sasha Bolla is a 6'3 middle blocker from Las Vegas, Nev. and is a senior at Coronado High School. At CHS, she played in 199 sets where she totaled 420 kills, 173 digs and hit a .429 in her career. Additionally, she was named Max Preps Player of the Week, named to the All-State Team in 2017 and 2018 and named to the All-Region and All-Conference Teams in 2017 and 2018.Â
