Men's Soccer Plays to Preseason Draw Against Detroit

CHICAGO - The DePaul men's soccer program played to a 1-1 draw at Wish Field on Sunday in their opening exhibition match against the University of Detroit Mercy Titans. Twenty-one total Blue Demons saw action on the field, including nine newcomers.
In a physical matchup, the Blue Demons were outshot 17-7, but gained the edge in corner kicks earning six to Detroit's five. The Titans struck first on a free kick in the 38th minute. DePaul's Michael Anderson found the equalizer early in the second half in the 54th minute with an assist from Youssef Ramadan. That would cap off the scoring as the game ended after 90 minutes.
Drew Nuelle recorded three saves in the first half while freshman keeper Brian Schwake netted five in the second.
The Blue Demons are back in action at Wish Field on Wednesday, Aug. 21 for their second of three exhibition matches against Wheaton at 4:30 p.m. Their third and final exhibition match will be played at Indiana on Saturday, Aug. 24 at 7:00 p.m. C.T. DePaul men's soccer hosts Northern Illinois for the regular season opener on Friday, Aug 30.
