Volleyball Season Underway at Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational

CHICAGO - The DePaul volleyball team begins its season at the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational where the Blue Demons will compete against three different opponents. On Friday, DePaul plays Jacksonville at 10 a.m. CT and Southeast Missouri State at 4:30 p.m. CT, with one final contest taking place Saturday against host Missouri State at 1 p.m. CT.
"Missouri State is a perfect place to open our 2019 season," said head coach Marie Zidek. "The success they had in recent years, national relevancy, strong conference finishes and undeniable culture that's been built there for nearly three decades makes the matchup in this tournament an exciting one.
"All three teams are going to be great matches for us to continue preparing for our 2019 BIG EAST season and we will look to write the first official chapter and gain some team chemistry this weekend."
Series Against Jacksonville
This will be the first contest between the Blue Demons and the Dolphins.Â
Scouting the Dolphins
Jacksonville finished the 2018 season with the same overall record as DePaul, going 5-24. The Dolphins finished 3-13 in Atlantic Sun Conference play.Â
Series Against Southeast Missouri State
DePaul holds a 4-0 advantage in the series against SEMO, with the last meeting being in 2015. The Blue Demons captured a 3-2 win in a neutral match at the Bradley Invitational.Â
Scouting the Redhawks
The Redhawks finished the 2018 season with an overall record of 16-14 and a split 8-8 in Ohio Valley Conference contests.Â
Last Time Versus Missouri State
This is the first meeting between the Bears and the Blue Demons.Â

The Bears finished the 2018 season with an overall record of 17-15 and went 10-8 in Missouri Valley Conference play.Â
