Cross Country Continues 2019 Campaign at Illinois State

CHICAGO — Continuing to see improvements from both newcomers and returners alike, the DePaul men's and women's cross country teams travel to the Illinois State Invitational on Friday. The women's race is set to kick off at 5 p.m. with the 5K with the men's 8K following at 5:45 p.m.

The Blue Demons will see conference rival Marquette among Chicago rivals including Loyola and UIC. DePaul will also see neighboring Northwestern for the second time this season, after competing at the Illini Open to start the season.

In the women's race, UNI, Quincy, Southern Illinois will join the pack. The men will compete against North Central, UNI and Southern Illinois at the Weibring Golf Club in Normal, Ill.

After leading the DePaul men's pack last meet, Henry Harper will race alongside Chris Ahlers, Ryan Bonfiglio, Dominic Bruce, Shane Knanishu, Michael Parry and Ryan Taylor. Last week at the Badger Classic, Harper placed 5^th overall with a time of 26:04.0 with Taylor close behind with an impressive 26:05.5 finish.

In its first two competitions of the season, the women's team has been led by its newcomers Olivia Borowiak and Violet Harper. Borowiak led at the season opener with a 19:01.5 in the 5K race with Harper leading the squad's 6K competition with a 23:26.3 in her collegiate debut.
