Golf Opens 2019-20 Season at Crusader Collegiate

Blue Demons set for 15-team event in Chesterton, Ind.
CHICAGO – The DePaul golf team tees off the 2019-20 season on Monday and Tuesday at the Crusader Collegiate. The three-round, two-day event features 15 teams in the tournament hosted by Valparaiso.
The Crusader Collegiate takes place at Sand Creek CC in Chesterston, Ind. The course is the home course for Valparaiso as the Crusaders welcome DePaul along with Bradley, Butler, Detroit Mercy, Green Bay, IUPUI, Loyola-Chicago, North Dakota, North Dakota State, Purdue Fort Wayne, Robert Morris, Western Carolina, Western Illinois and Wright State.
The 2019 edition of the Crusader Collegiate is the fourth annual tournament with Bradley playing as the defending champion. Sand Creek CC features a par 72 layout over 6,972 yards with an 8 a.m. shotgun start opening 36 holes of play on Monday followed by the final round on Tuesday with tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. Live scoring is available throughout the event at BirdieFire.com.
DePaul's lineup includes Campbell Wolf, Noah Kolar, Stephen Sul, Perry Chong and Grant Boyson while Nik Gatmaytan is competing as an individual. Kolar and Sul are making their collegiate debuts while Wolf and Boyson are beginning their sophomore campaigns. Chong and Gatmaytan are juniors as the DePaul roster features five of the eight members as either freshmen or sophomores.
Looking Ahead: DePaul opens the season on Sept. 15-16 at the Crusader Collegiate in Chesterton, Ind. before playing in the NKU Fall Classic from Sept. 23-24. October features three events starting Oct. 14-15 at the Georgetown Intercollegiate followed by Xavier's Musketeer Classic on Oct. 21-22. The final event of the fall schedule is a match against Loyola-Chicago on Oct. 28 at Evanston Golf Club. A day before the match between the Blue Demons and Ramblers, alumni from both programs will play in an alumni match-play event. The 2020 portion of the schedule starts with the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play on Feb. 10-11 in Dade City, Fla.
Dallio Memorial Returns: An event in the memory of former DePaul golfer John Dallio returns to the schedule as DePaul hosts the John Dallio Match Play on April 10. The four-team event will be played at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club in Lemont as the program hosted a fall tournament in Dallio's name through the 2016-17 season.
