CHICAGO, Ill. - DePaul secured its first BIG EAST win of the season 3-1 (16-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-22) Saturday evening against Seton Hall.
FROM COACH ZIDEK
"Big win for this team," said head coach Marie Zidek. "Tremendous resiliency and effort to fight for our rhythm and our style of play. Really proud of this group. They are learning to embrace pressurized points down the stretch and its showing late in matches. Excited about Butler on Wednesday."
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET ONE » A Bailey Nelson kill gave DePaul the first point but the Blue Demons fell behind, giving Seton Hall the first set 25-16.Â
SET TWO » DePaul jumped out to a 6-3 lead and went on to take the second set 25-22.
SET THREE » DePaul grabbed a 4-1 lead and the score would go back and forth. Back-to-back kills from Brittany Maxwell and a kill from Nelson would put DePaul up 14-13, forcing a SHU timeout. The Blue Demons maintained a narrow lead and went on to take the third set 25-22.
SET FOUR » The score knotted eight times before DePaul claimed four of five points to lead 14-11, urging a Seton Hall timeout. Out of the stoppage, it would be back and forth up until 22-22 but a 3-0 run from DePaul would give the Blue Demons the final set 25-22.
