A 6-2 Butler burst tied the game at 12-12 until Kiara Dallmann scored inside for a 14-12 lead after one quarter. Playing mostly a tight, man-to-man half-court defense, the Blue Demons forced 11 turnovers in the first 10 minutes.
Scoring the first five points of the second quarter brought the Bulldogs a 17-14 lead. Held erased that with one shooting stroke from deep igniting a 9-0 run as Morris scored four points and Church added two. DePaul's lead was 25-21 at the second quarter media timeout. Butler had 16 turnovers at that point.
